ToA Dungeon Adventure Generator.

To set the dungeon delve up you roll on various tables. I already know the Labyrinth location, its size and the companions objective so I do not need to roll for those.
Rolling on the reward table I get 2d4 x 100 sp and a potion, I make it that the party will receive this reward once they find the mirror of dragons and hand it over at the Stargazer’s Citadel.
Rolling of the main opposition table I get HD2 and rolling on the Monster by HD chart I get Elf, kind of makes sense.
On the Special Leader table I get Sorcerer. so this ancient labyrinth is now the home of Elves led by a sorcerer it seems.
For the leaders motivation I ‘Read the Signs’ and get undead terrifying. So lets say that the Sorcerer is in fact a Lich and that the elves are undead, also lets say that the stargates keep the Lich and his undead elven minions trapped in the Labyrinth but if the characters fail to close the stargates then who knows what havoc the Lich could wreak in Northgate.

Betrayal of the Dragon Queen.

The companions are in Northgate trying to prepare for their expedition to find the lost dragon city of Dierthama. While they await the arrival of the better weather they have become involved with a young girl named Lela whose mother has been taken by the Anointed. They now must find the Mirror of Dragons hich they have been told id hidden in an ancient elven labyrinth located under the city, and take it to the Stargazer’s Citadel in order to reunite Lela with her mother.

Dysonlogos maps are great for this purpose and this is the one I will use for the labyrinth. Owlbear rodeo VTT will be used to run through the dungeon delve.

Into the ancient elven labyrinth

The companions walk down a narrow corridor only just wide enough to allow one person at a time. It has a stream of clear water running down its length.

Question. Is the water very deep? Unlikely -20%. d100 roll = 12% -20%. No, and…

The water is no more than ankle deep and is safe to walk through.

Darowen the Ranger leads the way, she has a lantern in one hand and her short sword in the other.
Peran the Rouge is next, he to has drawn his short sword his other hand is free.
Morwen the Mage is just behind Peran with her dagger at the ready and a burning torch in her spare hand .
Hedrag the Fighter takes up a rear-guard stance,, shield and longsword in his hand although he is the first to admit his longsword will be of little use in the narrow passage.

Darown notices several very narrow passages which seem to be feeding the water into the main passageway. They are to narrow to enter.

Peran looks over her shoulder, “it looks like there is some kind of plinth up ahead “.

The companions walk down a narrow passage in the underground labyrinth.

Derown sploshes through the water, “You are right. There seems to be things on it, but I cannot quite make out what they are “.

The party continue until they reach the plinth then possibly a little unwisely, they spread out a little.

Question. Is there a random encounter? Unlikely (each roll of random encounter will be at -20%), Roll = 37 – 20 =17, No.

Derowen checks out the plinth and finds a drum with a volcanic icon painted on its face and a secure, enamel trinket box which she opens revealing a purple seedling growing a single golden leaf inside.

There is nothing else of interest on the plinth but Derowen does see something shining on the ground, picking it up she realises it is a piece of broken glass, possibly from a mirror, she calls her sister over, “Morwen, have a look at these”, Derowen makes a successful Int(WildernessLore) check, “a leaf of Goldenward is in this trinket box and this shard of glass, from a mirror maybe, do you sence it has any magical properties”?

Morwen holds the shard of glass and shakes her head, “If this is from a mirror then I suspect it was used for vanity purposes only, it shows no signs of being magical”.

Derowen puts the trinket box in her backpack but they all agree to leave the drum where it is.

The companions spend a little time contemplating which direction to go in next. Deciding that Lela’s mother probably would not risk going too deep into the labyrinth and that she would have hidden the mirror close to the stargate they entered through.

The companions split into two, Peran and Derowen follow the path straight ahead of them whilst Hedrag and Morwen take the path to their left past some pillars, Hedrag continues to walk through the running water.

Question. Do Peran and Derowen have a random encounter? Unlikely. d100 = 79-20=59. Yes, but,,,
Question. Do Morwen and Hedrag have a random encounter? Unlikely. d100 = 90 – 20=70. Yes.

Peran and Derowen look around the corner, in the light of Derowns torch they see two giant rat scurrying towards them but the lamplight startles the rats and they turn tail and run off. Derowen and Peran decide not to investigate that passage any further and turn back towards Morwem and Hedrag who seem to be in trouble as four skeleton warriors slowly advance towards them.

Elven Skeletons. AC11, HD 1d8 (5hp) Att Spears 1d6+1

Morwen rolls for initiative. She rolls a 4, Great Sucess. She cast a Ligtning Bolt spell at the Elven Skeletons. She rolls a 1 on her Int(Arcane Law) check, another Great Success, damage isrolled at advantage, The lead skeleton takes 5 hits and is destroyed, the one behind takes 2hp and is down to 3.
She rolls 1d8 on the DDM roll needing 2 or higher to avoid suffering a bad effect from the DDM table, she unfortunately rolls 1. Rolling 82 on the DDM table she finds a Doppelganger appears in front of Hadrig and her.

Doppelganger AC13 Hd 4 (13hp) Attack Claws x 2 1d6 dam.

Hedrag is able to attack the Doppelganger with his longsword. Rolling 10 plus his melee attack bonus he get a hit on the doppelganger causing 7 damage, The doppelganger is down to 6hp.

Derown and Peran, seeing the danger their friends are in rush towards them, as do the three remaining skeletons.

The doppelganger turns on Hedrag, lashing out with its claws, rolling 4 and 17 it causes 6 damage to Hedrag who is now down to 10 hp.

Combat round 2

This time Hedrag rolls for Initiative, rolling a 1, great success. Hedrag again attacks the Doppelganger and rolls a Nat 19. He rolls 1d10+2 damage and the doppelganger takes another 9 damage finishing it off.

Morwen decides agains trying anymore magic and draws her dagger ready to meet the oncoming skeletons.

Peran and Derowen move up behind their two friends but are unable to do anything else.

The lead skeleton moves to close range and attacks Hedrag but fails to hit him.

Combat round 3.

This round Derowen rolls for initiative, rolling a 17 she fails the test so the skeletons gain the initiative.

The skeleton attacking Hedrag rolls 10 and fails to hit him, the skeleton behind also thrusts its spear at Hedrag but rolls a poor 4 and misses. The last skeleton moves up to Morwen and rolls a 20 to hit causing 3 damage to her.

Hedrag attacks the skeleton in front of him and inflicts7 damage, it crumples into a pile of bones and dust.

Morwen fails to hit the skeleton attacking her.

Darowen calls to her sister telling Morwen to move back and let he fight the skeleton.

Combat round 4.

Peran rolls for Initiatve this time, he rolls 16, just enough to give the companions the initiative.

Morwen ignores her sister and slashes at the skeleton with her dagger, this time her aim is true and she cause 3 damage, enough to finish off the skeleton.

Hedrag fails to hit the last skeleton but thankfully it fails to hit Hedrag.

Combat round 5.

Morwen rolls for initiative, she rolls 10, so the party get to go before the skeleton. Morwen again slashes with her dagger but its a wild aim and she misses.

Hedrag does not miss this time. He rolls 9 and with his melee bonus hits the skeleton for 6 damage. The last skeleton falls.

Question. Doe they find any treasure on the skeletons? Very unlikely -40%. d100 roll =23 -40%. No.

The doppelganger has vanished and a search of the skeleton bones finds only rusty armour and spears which the companions know are worth nothing and of little use to them.

The party continue down the passageway a little further, this time staying closely together in case of any further attacks. They stop when they come across two doors, one to their left and one to their right.

Hedrag pushes the door in front of him it is reluctant to open but finally gives way to Hedrags strength.

To be continued.
