Toolkit

I am using the toolkit as given in session 0 (link here).
The free adventure, ‘No sprawl for old men’, from Pickpocket Press contains a great description and floor plan of a nightclub along with great random encounter tables which I have pinched and saves me heaps of time. There is a lot of useful material in the adventure pdfs which are available from pickpocket press on DrivethroughRPG.com for free or just a few pennies. Even if you don’t play through the adventures I highly recommend you pick these valuable resources up for the maps alone.

Main NPC’s.

I have a rule that I do not allow any ‘tag along’ NPC’s. An NPC can make more than one appearance in the game but are there only to either help or hinder the PC’s in a particular scene.

Vienna (Human)- a hacker who has a bit of a thing for Shona.
Nashu Kamshunar (Human)- Rich girl from the Munroe district. Has hired Weasel and Kid to find out what has happened to her, probably deceased, brother Enli.
Hif Klomo (Minotaur) A notorious people trafficker. The people he traffics tend to disappear.

Possible NPC’s

Lavantha Ashterka (Human)- Member of the People First Militia. Hates all Magic. Easily Distracted. Repeats Words.

Pepe (Human)- part-time barkeeper at both Club Jade and the Velvet Curtain Casino, both in the Munroe district. Pepe is attentive but clumsy. She talks to everyone like she knows the well and her catchphrase is “well hello sweetybins”.

Ru Wires – Dwarf, heavily augmented and wants to bring down Hif Klomo.

Sergeant Alegrip – Dwarf. Law Enforcer. Also in the pay of Hif Klomo.

Scene 9. On the walk to the concierge.

Kid Sinister the Exarch and Rook the Elven Mage make their way from Nashu Kamshunar’s apartment building to Vienna’s apartment block just a few streets away where Kid has a meeting with the concierge  who needs a Vampire taken out.

Question. Does anything happen on the way to Vienna’s apartment building?  50/50. d100 = 74, Yes.
Falsifiable.  Agent,  Agitate.

Question. Is this Sergeant Alegrip the Dwarf cop they talked to at Nashu’s appartment? Likely.  d100 = 74 + 20 = 94. Yes, and…

Out of a side street steps Sergeant Alegrip, Browning Liberty gun pointing straight at Kid and Rook.

Kid stops in his tracks, “Alegrip, what do you want? Pointing a Browning Liberty in our faces is less than friendly”.

Sergeant Alegrip readies his Browning, he looks agitated, “I want you to back off from Kamshunar, she really does not need you meddling in this business, leave that to us. And its Sergeant Alegrip to you “

“and what is ‘this business’ Alegrip and who exactly is ‘us’. Nashu trusts us, I doubt she can trust you, sergeant”. Kid replies.

Whilst Kid keeps Alehouse talking Rook casts a ‘Fetid Fog of the Pit People spell with a great success. She casts a nauseating green fog around Alegrip. Alegrip makes his luck roll so the thick fog has no effect on him except to obscure his vision. Alegrip fires his Browning Liberty gun. With his vision obscured he has a 33% chance of missing. He rolls 10 and his shot is way off the mark.

Rook and Kid Sinister make a run for it.

Question. Does Sergeant Alegrip give chase? 50/50. d100 = 9. No, and…

Sergeant Alegrip steps out of the green fog and shouts at the running PC’s, “If you value your rotten lives tell Kamshuner you can’t help her”.

Scene 10. The Concierge.

Kid Sinsiter and Rook don’t stop running until they reach the apartment block where Vienna lives. The concierge seems to be waiting for them and as they run up to the entrance he opens the doors and lets them in.

One of the conceits of Lowlife 2090 is that the crew have already accepted the job including the fee and rewards so whatever the concierge offers Kid to find and kill the Vampire he will readily accept.

The concierge tells Kid and Rook that he has managed to raise 30k from the locals to have the vampire and its thralls taken out. Payable on proof of the job done. He offers an advance of 3k to help pay for any extra equipment they may need. In addition he pushes a small box into Kids hand, “and you will need these”

Kid opens the box, inside are six silver bullets to fit his Enforcer pistol.

“Thanks”, Kid puts the box in his pocket, “I got a question, you know a local enforcer called Alegrip. Dwarf, about 5’3″ beard and looks rough”?

Question. Does the concierge know Sergeant Alegrip? Likely. d100 = 53 +20. Yes.

I know him, well, lets just say if there are any honest cops, Alegrip isn’t one of them. He’ll take money off anyone. I hear he is in the pay of some real dangerous people. If you are looking for help from him look else where”. The concierge transfers the 3k over to Kids account. “deposit payed”.

Kid thanks the concierge for the money, “and thanks for the advice. We’ll start the Vampire hunt as soon as we get the kit we need, garlic and crosses are easy but…”

The concierge stops him. “those bullet are all you will really need, make sure you aim for the heart, good luck”.

Kid and Rook leave the building and make their way back to foundry bay and Shona’s place.

To be continued.
