Scene 1. The body in the doorway.

Starting Weather. Roll d 12 = 3. Partial cloud, warm with strong breeze. High CTAC count.
Time of Day. 2:11 pm to be precise.

Kid Sinister looked at the body in the doorway. The Exarch turned to the young man next to him and said through his filtration mask, “has he’s been shot”.
“Maybe”
“Who shot him”?
“someone with a gun”
“For sure. You know him”?
“who, the killer or the victim”?
“either”
“neither”
“he’s not wearing a mask, CTAC count high”
“observant slud ain’t ya”

Red and blue moonbeams lit up the district. The powers that be had got here fast and there were lots of them. Someone was in a hurry to get the murder scene closed down.

Kid Sinister spoke again, “Cops or someone’s security”?
“you ask too many questions”
“you don’t give many answer”

The young man took no further interest in either Kid Sinister or the crime scene, he left before the law could shut the scene down. Kid Sinister took one last look at the body in the doorway and did the same.

Kid Sinister walked calmly and quickly away from the scene of the crime. Out of the shadows stepped his friend Weasel, the Spriggan lit up a cigarette and fell into step with the Exarch, “you recognise the dead person”?
“Sure”
“Spark”?
“who else would it be and for sluds sake wear a mask Weasel”

Weasel is out in high CTAC, he must make a Luck(con) save or he will suffer exposure to CTAC, he needs to roll 12 or less on d20. He rolls 12, just passing his Luck roll.

Weasel took a deep draw on his cigarette “I’ve walked the streets maskless all my life, CTAC never got me yet”

Weasel and Kid Sinister had run into Spark only a few days before. It hadn’t turned out well, either for Spark or them. Spark had hired a street gang to take Weasel, Kid and their friends Shona and Rook out. Shona and Rook got hurt bad. They had assumed Spark would disappear. They had assumed wrong. Spark had contacted them earlier this day. Said he needed to meet them, knew something they needed to hear. He made it sound urgent. Weasel and Kid couldn’t resist. They had headed to the Munroe district for a meet with Spark. By the time they got there Spark was dead.

Kid Sinister took out his cell, “I’ll call Rook, tell her we are heading back to Foundry”

Weasel stopped him, “Someone wanted Spark dead before he could tells us what he knew, I want to find out who pulled the trigger and why. We won’t find answers in Foundry Bay. Sparks pad, that’s a good place to start but first lets visit that friend of Shona’s, the one with electric blue hair”

Scene 2. The girl with the electric blue hair.

Weasel and Kid S. find their way to street where Shona’s friend Vienna lives. Kid Sinister has a feeling of unease, “Vienna thinks we are sumper, what makes you think she is going to help us”.

“She is probably right about us two. You know she has the hots for Shona, if she thinks Shona is in more danger she will be only to eager to help” Weasel replies, “Vienna is a hacker and I need her to hack”

The street in which Vienna’s Munroe apartment is located is deserted and silent. Except that is for a bizarre scene of a woman holding a kitchen knife standing over a prone man who is holding his stomach, the woman is screaming for medical help, blood is dripping from the knife. No one it seems, can hear her pleas.

Kid S looks over towards the woman, “she needs help and so does he by the look of it”.
Weasel is not for helping. “the PK’s ,(peacekeepers), and medics will be here soon and I have had enough of death and the law for one afternoon, get to Vienna’s, she knows this district, we can deal with it from there if we must”

Question. Does anyone else come to help the couple? 50/50. No, because…

Weasel walks briskly away from the scene and makes it to Vienna’s apartment block, he presses the intercom to he apartment only half expecting Vienna to be in.

Question. Is Vienna at home? 50/50. Yes.
Question. Does Vienna answer the intercom? Likely. Yes. but

Vienna sounds less than happy to have Weasel buzz her door.
Vienna answers “What!”.
“Its Weasel, Shonas hoda, and Kid”
“and what make you think I want to see two lobo’s like you?”
“theres a woman out here stabbed her man, they both need help”
“then help them, Honker”!
Weasel sounds a little taken aback “hey batu, we were just passing by. thought we call in say high, thought you would help this couple out here”
“then you thought wrong”
The intercom goes dead

Question. Does Vienna let Weasel and Kid S in to her apartment. Unlikely. No, because…

Kid Sinister taps Weasel on the shoulder “that woman with the knife, guess what, she’s moving our way and she ain’t just wanting to say hi”.

The woman is a Thrall (half vampire) and looking for more victims, no one is dumb enough to be on the street when she comes out.

Combat.
THRALL.

Def 13/3, HP 10, Bite +5/2d8 + drain 1 level, Nat 19: drain 2 levels,
S18 D15 C15 I12 P15 W13 Ch12, L10,

Weapon Resist (50%, Cold Iron ), Regen (1d6, Fire). May move about in daylight.

First combat round.
Both Wasel and Kid Sinister fail their initiative checks.
The Thrall moves closer to Kid Sinister but still out of melee range.
Kid S and Weasel fire their pistols at the Thrall, both miss.

Second combat round.
Again Weasel and Kid S fail their initiative checks.
The Thrall moves to within melee range of Kid Sand attempts to bite him bur misses.
Weasel can only watch in horror as the Kid S pulls the creature to him and fires his Snub Enforcer into it, causing 14 points of damage.
The Thrall fails its Weapons Resist check so takes 11 hits (14-3ap). Enough for it to drop to the ground.

The door into Vienna’s apartment block opens, Vienna is at the door . “you better get in here before that thing gets back up”

Weasel and Kid S quickly get inside and the door slides shut behind them. Both look in disbelief as the Thrall regenerates and climbs back onto its feet.

Weasel and Kid S enter Vienna’s apartment. She ushers them into her main room which is full of computer equipment.

Kid is the first to speak “That woman, what is she”?
“She’s the local Vamp’s Thrall. that man was probably her latest meal. I only let you in because you are both to dumb to run away ” Vienna looks at the two visitors with a look of disdain, “anyway, what is you want, you two don’t make social calls and if you did I would be out”.

Weasel and Kid S tell Vienna about the message from Spark, how he wanted to meet them but not at his pad, somewhere public. How someone got to Spark before they did and how the cops or someone’s security got to the scene almost instantly.

Weasel tells Vienna that if someone was so keen to stop Spark talking, they may be just as keen to come after Kid S and him, “and if they come after us they will come after Shona, if the cops are involved they will have a record already, you’re a hacker, I though you may be able to find out”.

Kid Sinister describes the man he spoke to at the scene, “I know he was wearing a CTAC mask but we need to find out who he is. My hunch is he is our killer, maybe you can work on that too”

Vienna sighs. “okay, I will see what I can do, not got a lot to go on and hacking the PK’s system is near impossible but I will have a go. What’s your next move”?

Weasel turns to leave, “We are going to check out Sparks pad, see if we can find anything there. Thanks Vienna, let us know if you turn anything up”.

“I’ll contact Shona if I do” Vienna shows them to the door. “tell her I will be in touch”.
