A new Fae creature to bring enchantment and pantry charm to your Beyond the Wall adventures. Includes lore, stats, and illustrations…

The Wisperjar.

Wisperjar, a diminutive fae creature

“Flora? Oh, she’s sweetness steeped in porcelain—until you misplace a jar. Then she’s all thunder and teacups. I once saw her glare a troll into apologizing. Twice.”
—Wihnhilda the Witch

Fae Classification: Domestic Boundling
Habitat: Enchanted cottages, witch’s pantries, apothecary shelves
Size: 8–14 inches tall
Temperament: Fastidious, loyal, volatile when provoked

Whisperjars are rare fae spirits bound to earthen vessels—jars, pots, crocks, and occasionally teapots. They are not born so much as arrive, often appearing alongside a new collection of containers in a witch’s home or hedge healer’s hut. Their presence is never explained, only accepted.

These diminutive beings are fiercely protective of their adopted vessels, treating each jar as a sacred trust. They catalogue contents with uncanny precision, monitor usage, and enforce strict shelf etiquette. Whisperjars are known to flare with righteous fury if a jar is misplaced, misused, or—heaven forbid—left empty without notice.

Despite their domestic fixation, Whisperjars possess surprising knowledge of the surrounding lands, often gleaned from the whispers of herbs, the murmurs of stored moonlight, or the gossip of pickled roots. Befriending one may grant you access to this peculiar lore, though accuracy is never guaranteed.

Notable Traits:

  • Can detect the presence and freshness of any jarred substance within their domain
  • Speak in singsong riddles when content, and in clipped, porcelain-sharp tones when angered
  • May vanish for days if deeply offended, leaving shelves in chaotic disarray

Cautionary Note:
Never mock a Whisperjar’s height, and never—never—put a lid on a jar they’re currently inspecting.

Hit Dice : 1d6

Alignment : Neutral.

Notes : Curse of the Diminished (The subject’s body begins to shrink at an alarming rate. On a failed polymorph save, the target is permanently reduced a full-size category. If the failure was by 5 or more, they are reduced an additional size category. If the subject rolled a natural 1 on their save, the target instantly becomes diminutive. This curse cannot reduce a creature’s size below diminutive.

Removal: Break Enchantment or Remove Curse. Alternatively, the diminished creature may single-handedly defeat an enemy of two sizes larger than itself to lift the curse.

The Wisperjar will also remove the curse if the broken pot and any contents are replaced and the cursed person brings her a peacock’s tail feather. This curse has no effect on diminutive creatures. )
