Commissions and Moving House (or the other way around).

So we have moved house, downsized really. My workspace in particular has shrunk, but we have a bigger kitchen and garden which is great as my second passion after TTRPGs is cooking, and once we dog proof the garden, we all three will enjoy that garden space, (thats Lucy, me and Nancy the Lurcher).

My shrinking gaming room isn’t really much of an issue. Since I came out of hospital back in August I have not worked, I had all but given up my little micro business of 12 years, I just wanted to clear out the last of my stock and had no intention of taking on any more miniature painting commissions. Then, just before we moved, a customer who I have painted thousands of 10mm figures for, and I mean thousands, asked me to paint some 10mm Fantasy Samurai for him.

After a bit of debate with myself I agreed to take on the work, its a small commission, just a couple of hundred 10mm figures, I think I can manage that. My thoughts are to work about 16 to 20 hours a week on painting minis and devote the rest of my time to this blog and gaming, see where it all takes me, dip my toes back in the world of commission painting. I have bought new paints and brushes, I njust need a new painting table and soon.

Bay of Spirits and Betrayal of the Dragon Queen campaigns.

I have not had any time for gaming over the past couple of weeks, and once again I have lost track of my two main campaigns. I think I can fairly easily pick up my Bay of Spirits game but there is a part of me that feels I should put my Tales of Argosa campaign to bed, possibly start a new campaign once I get my hard copy of ToA.

Betrayal of the Dragon Queen was never meant to be more than a one shot game, in fact it didn’t even start out as set in The Midlands, it just sort of stumbled over there, and, although I have enjoyed playing ToA, I have no great connection with the characters or the overall campaign.

Maybe I will end it, maybe I will keep it going, I will see how I feel when we get properly settled and I get back to gaming.

End bit.

So I will see how the samurai painting goes, the numbness and tingling in my hands is not as bad as it was, so I should be okay with paint and brush. Maybe I will do a post or two on this blog with lots of photos as I get going with the commission.

I am looking forward to getting my hands on the hard copy of ToA, it sounds like it should be super book. I may spend a bit of time developing a new campaign for it.

Bay of Spirits using Beyond the Wall and other Adventures is my main thing for now, I want to see where that takes the five companions, I want to explore not just the setting but the characters as well.

Then there is Pathfinder, well, I will talk about that another time.

Adventure on.

One response to “Blithering on.”
