January 31st, not only the last day of the month but the last day of the 2024 character creation challenge. I will say the towards the end it felt like a chore, someday’s I really had to force myself to type the character up, some were rushed, you can tell those ones as there will be typing errors in them. In the end though I did it, 31 characters in 31 days.

My final character for the challenge is the last character class left to create for the Lowlife 2090 RPG by Pickpocket Press, my favorite cyberpunk & sorcery game. Our final character will be a Vex, an expert wheelman and anti-armour expert.

Lets get on with creating the character.

Page 9 of the Lowlife 2090 rules book details the 15 steps to character creation.

Step 1. Roll 1 d6 to get a random race for your character. I roll a 1 this time so my Vex will be human.

Step 2. Roll 1 d10 for your class. Well as I know I am creating a Vex I can skip this.

Step 3. Roll attributes. One attribute must be 15 and I am rolling 4d6 and totaling the highest three for the remaining 6 attributes.
I get 13, 6, 15, 8, 10, 10
A mixed bag scores there, I distribute the rolls as follows (attribute modifiers in brackets).
Str: 8(-1), Dex: 15(+2), Con: 15(+2), Int: 10(0), Perc: 10(0), Will: 13(+1), Cha: 6(-2)

Step 4. We calculate initiative (average of Dex and Int) so 15+10/2 round down = 12
We also calculate Defense (11+Dex mod) = 13

Step 5. Our Vex calculates their hit points as 2 + Con score + Level(1) = 18

Step 6. Their Luck is 11 and their re-roll pool is 2

Step 7. Roll for contacts. Our Vex starts with three contacts. I get the following (number in brackets is rating)
Mechanic (15) Catchphrase – You’re not serious?
Peacekeeper (Highway Patrol). (14) Catchphrase – I thought you were dead?
Junk yard owner(8) Catchphrase – You getting enough sleep?

Step 8. Roll for augmentations. My Vex starts with three augmentations.
Vehicle Nexus, Stem Cell Drive (Pan Helix), Full Limb Cyberarm (Multitool). Also has a cybereye (see step 13)

Step 9. Gain bonus languages. With an Int. of 10, our Vex knows no additional languages.

Step 10. Choose skills. Our Vex has 9 skills. They automatically get Driving, Remote Control (Drive), Mechanic plus 6 others. I choose
Acrobatics, Demo, Electronics, Persuasion, Piloting, Stealth.

Step 11. Choose class abilities. My Vex starts with 2 vehicle talents. Evasive Maneuver & Fuzzy Dice.

Step 12. Add gear pack. As a Vex they gets the following,
Heavy vest, Saab Enforcer pistol (2 x mags shrapnel ammo), Cell ( Hon Hai Echo Sys 10), Fake ID, HH Warhog or Ford Urban, and ₵50.

Step 13. Add turning point, living standard and address. I get
Triad Exploder: : One intoxicated night, you made a fool of a Triad enforcer and he glassed your face, tearing out an eye (gain a cybereye )

Living Standard – Low.
Address – Longview.

Step 14. Create a background. My Vex is a Smuggler.

Step 15. My Vex goes by the name ‘Kryo’.

And there we have out eighth Lowlife 2090 character.
