Character catchup.

Its been a while since my last Weasel and Kid Sinister post so it’s worth reviewing the characters before we get into the game again.

Weasel – has made his way to the Modus Pharmaceutical buildings in the Business District where he is hoping to meet with Lavantha Ashterka who he has been led to believe works for Modus. When we last left him he has walked into the Modus building and asked at their reception to see Ashterka.

Shona – Went to the Business District with Weasel but was stopped at the subway checkpoint and refused entry into the district. She us now making her way to the Jade Nightclub in the Munroe District to meet up with Kid Sinister.

Kid Sinister and Rook – are at the Jade nightclub. Kid is convinced this is where he will find his Vampire. Weasel and Shona are to meet them their once they have done what they have to do at Modus Pharma.

Okay, lets get on with the game.

Scene 15 – Club Jade .

Kid Sinister and Rook leave the subway at the station right next to Club Jade and the apartment building once the home of the late Spark.

Security checkpoint roll d10 + 4 = 5. Three security guards, adv. using fake ids.

Rook rolls 7 and 1 on d20, Kid 13 and 2. Both get through the checkpoint using their fake id’s rolling with advantage.  

The three security guards, coming to the end of their shifts, are taking very little interest in their job. A quick glance at both Kid and Rooks Id”s and the guards allow them through.

Question. Is everything as expected? 50/50. d100 roll = 93. Yes, and…

Kid and Rook breathe a sigh of relief as they pass through the subway and exit into the street. There are a few citizens out and about, all seem eager to get somewhere other than where they are. Kid recognises two elves in CTAC masks standing on the street corner selling something, probably drugs of some sort. The whole street scene seems normal, nothing out of the ordinary and the doors to Club Jade are open.

Question. Is there any Security on the doors to Club Jade? Likely +20%. d100 = 1 +20. No.
Question. Are there any revellers entering the club? Likely +20%. d100 = 61 +20. Yes.

Kid and Rook walk up the steps to the entrance to Club Jade and join a short line of patrons waiting to get in. (Note: I am using the map and details from the adventure ‘No sprawl for old men’ by Pickpocket Press. I am not going to reproduce it here but the adventure is free to download should you want to see the map).

“What are we hoping to find in here Kid?” Rook asks.

“Vamps and Thralls, keep your hand mirror handy and stick close to me”. Kid looks around him as they enter the reception area through the open security doors. Club Jade looks like a typical average nightclub with typical average patrons, a sense of disappointment washes over him, he expected something grander from a club in Monroe run and frequented by Vampires.

Two taur bouncers with metal detectors check them for weapons, they find nothing on Kid but spot Rooks pistol and knife.

A big taur towers over Rook, “Not seen you before. First time at Jades? You can keep the knife and pistol, just keep them out of sight and no trouble lady”.

Rook smiles up at the big taur, “yeh, first time, thanks”.

A red haired chubby girl is on reception and stops Kid and Rook, “free entry this afternoon, happy hour till 4pm. DJ Grace is on till 7, she is the best, enjoy”.

The pair make their way down a corridor and into the bar area. The main dance floor is packed with patrons all mesmerised by the rhythmic beat of the music DJ Grace is pumping out, only a couple of patrons are at the bar.

[question. Who is at the bar. Roll 1d6 for number = 6..] [question. How many are bar staff, roll 1d4, 1]

At the bar are five patrons, a blond lady sits at the bar smoking a long cigarette, a dwarf sporting a magnificent beard, he looks nervously about as if he to is looking for someone and a trio of lads sit at a table, each drinking a fluresant coloured drink and chatting to each other but finding it hard to make themselves heard above the rythmic music.

A girl with blue hair is the only one working behind the bar. As Kid and Rook approach the bar the girl approaches them, she asks “Well hello sweetybins. what can I get ya”?

I get Kid to make a Perc ability check to see if he recognises Pepe. Needing to roll 13 or less on d20 he rolls 12. He knows he has seen her before.

Kid and Rook order a couple of drinks and Kid asks “You got a twin works at the Velvet Curtain? I’m sure I saw someone like you there”
“That would be me sweetybin, Pepe many jobs they call me. I have to work 24/7 just to earn enough to live round here”.

Kid cotinues to talk to Pepe and asks if she knows anything about vampires round these parts.
Pepe answers, (random words. confirm, able, CEO), “I do and Its scary. The streets are dangerous enough without Vamps and their Thralls. The boss here has put on extra security at night to keep staff and customers safe. These guys are able to handle themselves but against a vamp. its sure safe out on the streets round here. Romour has it the vampire is some rich thing from the business district and uses Munroe as his killing ground. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps”.

Pepe moves away from Kid and Rook who decide to look around the nightclub.

Question. Do they have an encounter in the nightclub. d100 roll = 20, No!
I get them both to make a Perc check to see if they notice anything unusual, Kid roll 6, he notices something. Rook rolls 7, she does as well. (themed words – Running, Woman).

As Kid and Rook move away from the bar towards the dance floor they both notice a young woman moving briskly in their direction.

Who is the woman? 1 = Pepe, 2/3 = Shona, 4 = A Thrall, 5/6 = Nightclub patron. Roll d6 = 5. (themed words – Waiting. Human).

The girl pushes pat them towards a person standing at the corridor leading to the entrance (1-3 male, 4-6 female. d6 = 4, themed words – Antagonistic, Reporters). The woman standing at the corridor entrance takes out her cell and starts taking photos of the girl rushing towards her. The girl tries to take the cell from the woman and a slight altercation and tussle ensues between the two. Two minotaur bounces quickly move in and separate the two. After a brief conversation the woman taking photos on her cell is escorted from the club. At the same point in time as Shona walks in.

Shona greets Kid and Rook, “Hey batu, what was that all about”?
Rook shakes her head, “search me, the girl obviously didn’t want her photo taken, either of you recgnise her”?
I have all three PC’s make an Int check to see if they know who the girl is. Rook rolls 20, a terrible failure, Kid fairs no better rolling a 19, Shona needing 9 or less on d20 rolls 9.
Shona replies “I have seen her imahe tonight, she’s in the adverts for the Modus Pharma Ctac pills. I don’t know who she is though. Its been a long afternoon, I need a drink”?

The bar is still quiet and Pepe is on hand to serve the PC’s. Kid orders the drinks and asks Pepe what the incident was about.
Question, Does Pepe know anything about the scuffle? d100 roll =54. Yes, but…

Pepe answers, “the girl is the daughter of our boss but I don’t know who the other woman is, probably some kind of reporter, I dunno”.

Kid, Rook and Shona hang around inside Club Jade for an hour or so waiting for Weasel. When he fails to show they decide to head back to Shonas place. They send Weasel a message to his cell telling him to meet them there.
