Kruk the half skorn artificer for Tales of Argosa RPG

For today and probably the next couple of days, I am sticking to creating characters for Tales of Argosa, the Low Fantasy RPG from Pickpocket Press.

Most of the character generation in ToA is, or can be, random which makes it perfect for solo play and following the 17 steps in the rule book you can generate a character really quickly.

Here is how my Artificer character was created.

Step 1. Roll 1d12 for race. I roll 12 so this character is a Half Skorn, not the best option for an Artificer but we shall run with it. Half Skorn have the following –
Gain advantage on strength related tests.
Gain advantage to resist disease and parasites tests.
Disadvantage on intelligence related tests.
Gain +2 bonus on death saves

Step 2. Roll d66 for background. ! roll 53 so this character was an alchemists assistant and gains +1 Int, the skill ‘arcane lore’ and a fire pot.

Step 3. Roll 3d6 for attributes. I roll 9, 12, 11, 6, 12, 9, 14. One attribute must be 15 or higher soI am going to swap the 6 for a 15 and make a artificer (see step 4) so I assign the rolls to the attributes as follows –
Str: 14 Dex: 9 Con: 12 Int: 16 (includes +1 gained from step 2) Perc: 12 Will: 11 Cha: 9

Step 4. Choose class. As mentioned above this character will be a ‘Artificer’.

Step 5. Artificers Luck is 11, Re-rolls 1 and DDM 1.

Step 6. Initiative is Dex + Int/2 rounded down so 9+16/2 = 12.

Step 7. Hit points = con score plus level x 2, so 14.

Step 8. Death Save is 10 + Con mod +2 bonus so 12.

Step 9. Skills – Apothecary, Acrobatics, Deception, General Lore, Traps and Locks and Arcane Lore (see step 2 above).

Step 10. Class Abilities. Alchemy and Mechanica.

Step 11. Battle Gear slots = 7, Pack Gear slots = 7
Pack Gear. Torch, bedroll, 5 days rations.
Tinderbox and 10 silvers in a pouch.
Class Starting Gear. Heavy Hammer (1d8), Leather (+1 AC) Toolkit

Step 12. AC = 10 + 1(leathers) so 11

Step 13. Attack bonus = +1 (melee), 0 (ranged)

Step 14. Languages – common tongue.

Step 15. Age 1d20+16 = 22 years

Step 16. Name: Kruk (male), Personality: Withdrawn. (both rolled randomly from the hireling tables).

Step 17. Party Bond. Pit fighters from the same faction.

I wasn’t sure what a Half Skorn looked like but this seems to fit the image in my head of what Kruk would look like.
