Here we are at part 8 of my Through Sunken Lands and Other Adventures solo RPG with my two characters Tilly the Rogue from Jundarr and Moonwane the Cosmic Champion.
The party now consists of four, Anvarn a pirate captain and an eldritch girl who has just discovered her name is Karintha. If we include Whiskers the little black and white winged cat then the party consists of five, six if we also include the butterfly spirit they are following.
The party have found themselves on a large island, part of the Slavers Empire of Allonia. Having been saved from a demon of chaos and its minions who were too powerful for the party to fight, they are now outside the Allonian town of Zfonroon, having been taken there by their rescuers, a strange trader and his even stranger sorceress wife who Tilly and Moonwane first encountered in Jundarr.
You can read the first session here https://solorpg.co.uk/through-sunken-lands-part-1-jundarr/ Character sheets for Tilly and Moonwane can be found there.
As I type this session I have no idea what will happen next or where the oracle will lead my characters, I would love you to find out with me and welcome you to read on

Scene 13 At the town gates of Zfonroon.
The party have journeyed along a coastal path which brings them to the outskirts of the small coastal town Zfonroon. It is now late afternoon and a sea mist is starting roll in from the sea,
Oracle Question. Is everything as expected? Yes, and… (+1 intervention point, now at 2).
Random Verbs. Head. Punch. Announce.
Zfonroon is a small walled town, it has but one entrance to the north and a second from the small harbour to the south. The small town is typical of those to be found in Allonia, it is dark and foreboding, not somewhere anyone would willing come to without good reason. There are only three classes of peoples in Zfonroon, the elite who live in the citadel, the trusted slaves who make up the slave masters and guards and at the bottom the slaves themselves.
The party, still being led by the little spirit butterfly, make their way to the north gate which is manned by 5 (1d6+1) guards and they seem to be there to stop anyone leaving rather that stop anyone entering through the gate. Indeed, two of the guards are beating a poor wretch with large sticks, egged on by their three comrades.

Oracle Question. Do any of the NPC’s in the party react to the guards actions? Yes.
Roll d4 to see which NPC reacts.1=Trader, 2=Traders Wife, 3=Anvarn, 4=Karintha. Roll = 4
Oracle Question. Does Karintha recognise the person being beaten (unlikely)? No
Oracle Question. Does any of the party recognise the person being beaten (unlikely)? Yes, but…
Karintha, shocked by the way the slave is being treated, jumps from the cart she is in and walks over to the guards, announcing herself as the Karintha, Dynaste of the Vadenris and commands the guards to stop.
Moonwane sensing trouble goes with her, he looks at the poor wretch being beaten and recognises him, “Farhad? How can it be you”. Moonwane is quick to get his battle axe in his hand ready for action.
Tilly deftly places two small bolts into each of her hand crossbows and Anvarn draws his sword.
The guards mock Karintha and one goes as if to punch her in the face but before he can strike her she waves her left hand and her fingers make gestures of arcane eldritch might. Uttering a savage word she casts a ‘Rebuke of the Sorcerer’ spell affecting the four guards closest to her including both who were striking the lad.
Each effected guard has to make a save vrs spell. Roll 19,12,10,10. 1 pass, 3 fail.
Three of guards, the one about to strike Karintha plus the two striking the slave fall to the ground. unable to do anything for 1 turn.
Tilly fires both bolts at the fourth who is still standing, needing 14+ to hit she rolls 16 & 9, one bolt strikes causing 4 damage and killing the guard instantly.
The fifth guard standing is the guard captain. Moonwane gets a strike in first, needing 15+ to hit he rolls 15, 17 with his bonuses. Moon rolls 7 damage, causing 10 damage with his bonuses, the guard captain drops.
Tilly and Anvarn run to Karinthas side, the three guards on the ground recover and begin to get on their feet. Moonwane tells Tilly to get Karintha away from the danger, Anvarn and him will deal with the guards. Reluctantly Tilly drags the eldritch girl away.
Moon swings his axe at one of the guards, rolls 19, a hit. Damage roll 6 (9 with bonus), a third guard drops.
Anvarn attacks the two who were striking the slave, he rolls 11, 13 with his bonus, he misses.
The two guards attack Anvarn, needing 16+ to hit, they roll 9 and 17, one hits with his longsword doing 5 damage, Anvarn is now down to 7hp.
Moonwane attacks again, rolling a 1 he misses wildly. Anvarn rolls for his attack, a 7 another miss. The two guards attack, both still going for Anvarn, rolling 16 and 5, another strike on Anvarn causes 7 damage, Anvarn falls to the ground.
Moonwane attacks again, rolling 13, 15 with bonuses, a hit for 7 +3 bonus =10, he kills a fouth guard. The last remaining guard runs off to raise the alarm.
Moonwane goes to Farhad who is in a poor state but able to stand with help. Tilly and Karintha go to Anvarn but its too late to help him. With all the fighting no one noticed that the Trader and his wife have gone, so has Whiskers and the butterfly spirit.
Monewane suggests that they leave Zfonroon before more guards arrive, they can use the thickening sea mist as cover to disappear into the wilderness. Moonwane helps Farhad, his old companion from the Southern Lands, to walk while Tilly quickly looks over the bodies of the dead guards.
Oracle Question. Is there anything worthwhile to be found on the dead guards (unlikely)? No, and…
There is nothing of value to be found on the dead and there are raised voices and a clatter of armour coming towards them. Tilly grabs a longsword from one of the fallen and the party make haste to leave the small town. Karintha marches quickly beside Tilly and asks her, “Why did that spirit lead us to this place and put us in such danger, then disappear”?
Tilly answer is simply and to the point “Farhad”.
Oracle Question. Do the Zfonroon Guards try to follow the party? No, because…
Tilly stops for a moment and looks behind to see if the guards are looking for them, she can just make out through the sea mist that a couple of guards are stood at the towns main gate but no attempt is being made to go after the party. Town guards are trusted slaves and its not worth their effort or the possible loss of more trained guards to go after outsiders beyond the town walls.
{ at this point I am going to draw a close to this session and this post. A heavy work schedule and then a short holiday have resulted in me not having any gaming time for a couple of weeks and the game has now stalled. Its time now to take stock of where the game is going and in the next post I will use a simple random d6 event table to kickstart the game again }
